Arctic Monkeys zevenmaal genomineerd voor NME Award

De Arctic Monkeys zijn blij met de nominaties die zij hebben binnengehaald voor de NME Awards. De band maakt kans op de Britse muziekonderscheidingen in de categorieën Beste Britse Band, Beste Album, Beste Track en Beste Live Band.

'We komen in aanmerking voor al de grote prijzen, daar zijn we heel blij mee. We hebben ons geamuseerd tijdens het  maken van 'Suck It And See' en het is schitterend dat we genomineerd zijn voor Beste Live Band. Dat is alles wat we doen: muziek opnemen en optreden, het is goed daarvoor gewaardeerd te worden', reageert drummer Matt Helders.

Arctic Monkeys nemen het op tegen onder meer Kasabian, die drie nominaties achter hun naam zetten. Muse is in de running voor Beste Britse Band en Beste Live Band.

Tijdens de uitreiking van de NME Awards, op 29 februari in Londen, krijgt Noel Gallagher de Godlike Genius Award. Hij maakt daarnaast kans op vier prijzen waaronder Beste Album en Beste Solo Artiest. In die laatste categorie neemt hij het op tegen onder meer Florence & The Machine, die ook genomineerd is in de categorie Hottest Female.
